Insanity

Dick says:

"It's hard to explain why a person needs a clip with more than 10 bullets in it."

That's why Dick's a dick.

The point is not why a person needs a "clip" (roll eyes) with more than 10 bullets in it, the point is why a person needs a "clip" at all. Heck, why does a person need a gun to put that "clip" in. That is the point, dicky McDick.

The above quote was in an article in the Washington Post titled Democrats Wary of Tightening Laws. As well they should, but that's another blog post. For now, one needs to understand the context in which the dick made the statement: the possible renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994, one of President Clinton's many pseudo-successes which includes scoring a direct hit on a certain blue Gap dress. Great shot, Mr. President!

The AWB, which "sunset" in 2004, has the distinction of being the* most useless piece of legislation ever and that's saying something, considering it's the US Congress were talking about here. In addition to some other things, it limited the number of bullets in a "clip" to 10. Stopping to reload a magazine takes less time for most people than pulling the trigger thrice. Besides this, all through the entire 10-year-period the AWB was in effect, anyone who wanted to buy a "hi-cap" or high-capacity magazine was able to do so, willy nilly.

In other words, beyond wasting paper, a heck of a lot of time, and inconveniencing a ton of people, the AWB did not lessen--much less stop--crime. It certainly did not stop VT-type mass murder sprees; it did nothing except make people feel safe.

Except, it didn't do that well either.

The Democrats and Gun Fearing Wussies (to borrow a phrase from Kim) are once again squarely looking squarely in the wrong direction. Actually, one wonders if they are even looking so perhaps I should restate: ... looking squarely in the wrong direction with their eyes firmly shut. What they have done is what they always do: recast and reformulate the argument so that one spends time arguing inane points about how many rounds (why 10? Why not 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 6, 7, 8, or, you guessed it, 9?) one should have in a magazine instead of the real issues.

*An analysis of the useless AWB can be found on the Mad Ogre, Gun Cite, Awbansunset, FrontPage, NRO, NRA-ILA, etc.

Now you know why these pukes will never completely in charge anymore. They have little sense and less backbone.

The reason so many died in VT was not the clip or the gun it was because this nut job was paln old evil. He was an engieer and would have figured out another way to kill so many if he would have had no way of getting a gun.

I personally think all the hand wringing after words is a while other industry in itself. Its the industry of stirring the shit and making others draw up sides. There is a lot of money in it.

Incidentally I like your blog and spend a lot time in Idaho. Been to Grangeville, Kamiah, McCall and Weiser several times over the last year.
