I find it amazing how strangers can become "friends" of a sort online. Sam, a pilot for a northwest regional airline and a blogger at FL250, reported a bit of depressing news: his wife recently experienced a miscarriage. I don't "know" Sam or his wife Dawn. I only know his writings, which are quite good and always enjoyable. From that, I drew the conclusion he's a nice person, someone I wouldn't hesitate to call a friend IRL (In Real Life.)
Even if he weren't a nice person, losing a child by miscarriage has got to be traumatic and psychologically damaging, something I wouldn't wish on anyone, nice or not. I have no idea why I'm affected by this news, but I am. Here's to you, Sam and Dawn: to paraphrase an Ibo saying of encouragement, be strong (ji sike).
